SpeechStudio Profile Manager software enables you to
create, delete, train, modify, backup and restore speech recognition profiles.
You can quickly and easily copy profiles between computers, eliminating the need
to train each system. You can backup your user profile against system failures
or degradation of the speech-recognition system.
Profile Manager works with Office XP or any SAPI 5 compatible speech-recognition
program. A Developer's SDK is available from SpeechStudio.
A recognition profile represents a single user and training sessions on the
system. It is user-specific data file in which a speech-recognition stores the
user-specific acoustic and language data. The recognition profile can be thought
of as a bag of information that only the engine knows about.
There are several reasons for a user to have multiple recognition profiles:
1. Save time. Copy profiles between machines
so you do not have to retrain the profile. Copies also serve as backups.
2. On Windows 98 or Millennium home computers where
the users typically press cancel to the login dialog box to enter the
computer, multiple profiles allow two or more users to keep there languages and
acoustic data separate.
3. On a laptop, to offer the user the choice of having different acoustic
profiles for different acoustic settings, such as home and office.
