 -  Steve Kaye, Pitney Bowes

"With SpeechStudio, application developers can easily design, build, and test integrated speech interfaces using the speech capabilities shipping with new Office XP and Window XP releases."

SpeechStudio Suite is an Integrated Speech Development Environment for rapidly constructing, integrating, or prototyping speech and telephony applications.  Developers can quickly voice-enable desktop and Tablet PC applications with speech-recognition, dictation, text-to-speech, audio prompts, audio recording, and telephony.

Even the most powerful and robust speech APIs, such as Microsoft's SAPI 5, don't provide the application framework or lifecycle support needed to quickly create and maintain high-quality speech interfaces.  But SpeechStudio Suite does.

See our FAQ and Release Notes for the latest info.

Components included with SpeechStudio Suite:

Predefined Windows Support
Custom commands for many predefined Windows, including list box, list views, combo boxes, buttons, sliders, spinners, and text boxes.  Easily extended for other Windows and controls. A GUI is not required for embedded or telephony speech apps.

Speech Control Panel Utilities

 - Create training sessions with custom text.
 -
SpeechStudio Control Panel Components

Prompt Creation
 - Records audio prompts for playback or testing
 - Organizes prompts by phrase and speaker

Audio Recording
Audio can be recorded for recognitions, false recognitions, and dictation.  An independent full-time recorder is available to record all incoming audio, even during speech recognition and text-to-speech.  Audio is suitable for playback, logging, and voice-mail applications.

Text-to-speech and audio prompts are queued, started, and stopped independently of the application.  Events are delivered when audio starts and stops.  For half-duplex devices, audio is synchronized with speech recognition.

Grammar Activation
Applications can programmatically start, stop, and pause grammars, or grammars may be tied to forms, dialogs, and frames, in which case activation follows keyboard focus.

SpeechStudio Grammar Format
Grammars are tightly bound to the application, with a straightforward notation for parsing results, generating dynamic content, and delivering results to the application program.

Over 100 predefined grammars
Grammars for integers, ordinals, real-numbers, dates, times, durations, letters, and spelling.  See the
complete list.

What Can You Say Prompts
Prompts are generated automatically from the current set of active grammars.  Prompts are displayed automatically and changed dynamically to reflect changing grammars.
